San Mateo @ Home and Wildcat Relays

Dual Meet vs. San Mateo

This past Thursday was the first league dual meet of the season.  We hosted San Mateo in a rainy, but fun and successful, competition.  The result was Westmoor starting out the season strong by winning all four divisions.  Posters including event winners and official score sheets are hanging in the locker rooms for you to see.  This coming Thursday we go to Carlmont followed a week later by a trip to Terra Nova.  Remember, for the Varsity teams every win counts towards the dual-meet championship, while for the Frosh/Soph these meets are training for the overall F/S Championship, which Westmoor will host on April 27th.  Rain was heaviest during the hurdle races, which ended up being the closest and most exciting finishes of the entire afternoon.  I am thinking of the tight finish between Mimi Chang and Julie Canta in the VG race and Caleb Sin edging out the strong San Mateo competition in a photo finish for the VB.  Good thing we had a finish line camera for those ones!  Westmoor is a strong Dual Meet team because of our depth.  Every event and every athlete is important, so keep it up Westmoor and we will have another fun and successful season!

Wildcat Relays

The bus left Westmoor at 6:00 am and returned at 8:30 pm.  This is our longest trip, and one that is great for bonding and getting to know everyone on the team.  There was plenty of time to walk around to root for your team-mates at all the events.  Hopefully you did that, because that team spirit is the corner-stone of the Westmoor Rams.  The weather was great and the people friendly.  As usual, we did really well at the Wildcat Relays.  It is a meet for the whole team, not just an elite few.  Your coaches are all very proud of your performances.  We also learned a few lessons at this meet, which is a good thing too.  Next week is another relay meet.  This time at Alhambra High School in Martinez.

I want to give a special thanks to Nicole Novales who has been helping so much at the finish line this season.  Also thanks to Alexa Novales as well!  This help is so valuable, especially for ensuring that we get all the splits and times for you guys.  Also, through their help the PR sheets have been updated and fixed so we shouldn’t miss anymore PRs from here on out!  Thanks!

Also, the higher quality pictures are thanks to Christina Soe copyright 2013.  I had to downsize them a bit but they still look great.

Keep it up Rams!
