M-A @ Westmoor and Firebird Relays

Westmoor competed Thursday and Saturday in two fun and competitive meets.  On Thursday Westmoor hosted Menlo-Atherton in the second PAL dual-meet of the season.  Knowing that M-A is a strong team we expected strong competition and we got it!  The marks from both teams were excellent and the meet was a great example of what a dual-meet can be when two strong teams go head-to-head.  The results were a split.  M-A won the Varsity Boys and the Frosh/Soph Girls while Westmoor won the Varsity Girls and the Frosh/Soph Boys.

On Saturday Westmoor went to the 4th Annual Firebird Relays at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale.  This was our first time attending this meet so we really didn’t know what to expect.  We were intrigued by the combination of individual events as well as relays and were optimistic that it would be a positive experience for the team.  We were not disappointed!  There were many really great schools in attendance with some  very strong athletes.  Westmoor’s large team filled out almost every event in all four divisions bringing home many individual as well as team medals.  The big highlight, however, was the combined 4-division team Championship Trophy that Westmoor won.  Every point mattered as it came down to the wire at the end.  Congratulations Rams on a total team effort to bring home a really cool award!
